Simply put: [de]CLAIRE is the name & happiness is the game. After creating a blog for my student teaching experience WAY BACK WHEN (thank you @UofIJamesScholarProgram) and an instagram account (@mrsdeclaireinghappiness pls follow), I wanted to continue my blogging journey online! If you look back at blogposts, you’ll see I haven’t written in a while… but third times the charm and I’m hoping that this reintroduction and stage in my life will encourage me to keep on writing.
Life can be tough sometimes and I’m here to share some JOY and remind us all of some HAPPY things. As a wife & mama, I’ll be writing about marriage, parenthood, teaching, exciting & easy DIY projects, what I’m grateful for, fun food recipes, savings/secrets… MORE!!
I promise you will be learning a lot about me on my blog, BUT in case you want some fast facts, here are some below:
1.) I am married to my high school sweetheart, Joel!! He is currently in his intern year (first year of residency… still learning the lingo!!) & works so hard. We enjoy eating tacos, watching The Office, going on walks, and just hanging with our lil family.
2.) We had our first child in December 2020. We love him!! I’ll be sharing honest thoughts and tips for motherhood, but will let you know now that I’m going to be keeping some privacy regarding our son. I’ll refer to him as Baby JoJo, Baby J, or baby (honestly I call him Baby so much that I think he will one day think his name is baby lol). He is the absolute CUTEST and humbling us so much.
3.) I taught for six years in my dream district!! Taking a little bit of time off because Baby Boy #2 is on the way and we’ve just had so much change over this past year. But I’ll still be sharing some teacher tips and creations:)
4.) My immediate family consists of my patient, fun-loving dad, and my hilarious, hard-working older brother. After my freshmen year of college, my mom passed away after battling stomach cancer. She was and still is my role model! My love of crafting and cooking has definitely come from her. Our family has grown in size, though! My brother married my super cool, fun-loving sister-in-law. They just had their first child so I’m an auntie too!! And my dad got remarried to a beautiful inside-and-out lady who has two awesome kids!
5.) My faith is super important to me. I will be sharing a lot about how God has changed my life and continually is there for me day to day! HE is the reason I’m filled with so much joy and want to spread happiness!!
6.) Ever since I took a Digital Photo class in high school, I love taking pictures, using Photoshop, and creating graphic design projects. Love Adobe Illustrator right now.
7.) Favorite show has to be a triple-tie between Friday Night Lights (I grew up in Austin, TX… obvi this is a fav), Jane the Virgin (it is just so darn funny!!), and The Office (C.L.A.S.S.I.C).
8.) If I could eat chips, salsa, and tacos for every meal I would. I have probably eaten my entire body weight in tortilla chips…they are just so delicious.
9.) My favorite color is blush pink. You will find this color constantly as a part of my wardrobe, phone case/background, Apple Watch, jewelry, and bedroom.
10.) My fav places to shop are Target, Trader Joe’s, Aldi, Old Navy, and Michaels! Currently, our son has probably been to Target more than he has any other place LOL.
